How was your weekend?
Mine was lovely, thanks for asking.
Friday afternoon I hopped in my rental car and drove three hours east.
This has become a tradition.
When I visit Virginia during the summer, I write to a friend in Baltimore and we meet and spend the weekend somewhere new.
This weekend it was Davis, West Virginia, population 579.
A hundred years ago, Davis was a prosperous mining town.
Today, the mines are closed, residents are moving away, and the town lives off weekend tourists.
They drive from Pittsburgh, DC, Baltimore and New York…
They go biking, hiking, skiing, camping or rafting.
They rent rooms and buy food, drinks, clothes and souvenirs.
Hopefully the overpriced beers we bought will help them survive for a few more years.
LOST AND FOUND
The sign said, “Scenic Overlook One Mile Ahead.”
What does that mean?
It means there’s a special parking lot ahead with a good view.
“Why not?” I thought.
So I pulled over.
Got out of the car.
Looked at the view – a valley, forests, mountains.
And turned back to get in my rented Jeep Renegade and continue my journey.
Then I saw something on the ground.
A wallet!
With no one else around…
What would you do in this situation?
Cheers,
Mr. Vig

In Poland, a found wallet is handed over at the nearest police station.
First, I check the contents of the wallet—there might be something identifying the owner (like an ID card or bank card)—and try to find them on social media.
