“What’s your #1 English problem?”
If I asked you that, you’d probably tell me something like:
verb tenses
phrasal verbs
vocabulary
I don’t know…
Here are my
Top 3 English Problems
Grammar Mouth
Every sentence must be perfect.
You spend large amounts of time constructing each phrase in your head before you speak.
Meanwhile, the person you’re talking to has left the room or fallen asleep.
Text Book Addiction
All your English comes from a text book.
You learn expressions like, It’s a pleasure to meet you.
And when a real, live human says, “What’s up?” you’re lost.
English Class Psychological Trauma
You had a mean teacher when you were a kid.
It wasn’t English class, it was a torture session.
And now when you open your mouth to speak English, all those negative emotions come flooding back.

What do you think?
Do any of these problems describe someone you know? (of course, it’s not you)
Or did I forget something?

You hit the nail, Ryan. I am also usually lost when I need to describe some problem at work and suddenly I can’t remember one word.. it ruins the whole message I wanted to deliver.
Your comment inspired my next post about improvising. Hope that helped!
