Here I am in Bangkok.
What an exciting city.
For example, you can take a taxi.
Or you can take a tuk tuk.
Tuk tuks are loud and there are no windows and you’ve got to hold on or else you may fall out.
I prefer Tuk Tuks.
TUK TUK CONVO
But don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to live here.
One reason is, the city is way too big.
I was riding in a Tuk tuk last night with a German friend who lives here.
“How long do you have to travel to meet friends?”
“Depends,” he said. “It could take 30 minutes, or it could take 60 minutes.”
Yikes!
When I want to meet someone in Prague, I usually choose a cafe or restaurant in the city center.
It takes me five minutes to walk there.
Maybe less.
Or even better — we meet in my apartment!
WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE HAPPENED?
Last week, I told you the story of Jim Thompson, Thailand’s most famous expat.
I told you how he joined the US Army.
How the army recruited him into their newly-created intelligence arm, which later became the CIA.
How he started a silk business in Bangkok after the war.
And I told you that one day he disappeared while hiking in the jungle.
I’ll tell you the details of that part of the story tomorrow.
But first, I want to know what you think happened to him?
What do you suppose happened to Jim?
- He was killed by a business rival.
- He was killed by the US government.
- He was killed by a foreign government.
- He was eaten by tigers or some other jungle creature.
- He put on a fake mustache, moved to the Bahamas, and now lives with Elvis and Jim Morrison.
Post your guess in the comments.
And we’ll finish the story tomorrow.
Cheers,
Mr. Vig

I suppose he was eaten by a wild animal.
I suppose je put on a fake mustache, moved to the Bahamas, and now lives with Elvis and Jim Morrison. ;-)))
Hello everyone!
I quess, he was eaten by a tiger or some bad and ugly jungle creatures:))))
Maybe killed by a foreign country.
I suppose Jim met an unknown tribe and teach them how to avoid our civilisation.
I suppose that Mr Thompson probably took on a new identity. He must certainly have had other identity documents before, as he had been a spy. Perhaps he lived in another country under a different name and died very old and happy..
I suppose he was eaten by a snake
I think No.3 is the most likely. Or he could have been eliminated by competitors.
I can imagine, he got lost in the jungle und died.
He was never found, so I suppose he was eaten by a wild animal…
