Thanks for the comments!
I asked you if you think jumping into the deep end is a good way to practice speaking English.
Some of you have tried this method and had success.
But not everyone is so brave.
This reminds me of another useful idiom…
SINK OR SWIM
When you’re thrown into a new situation without preparation, some survive, a few thrive, but most fail.
This is why most people need a course, a program, a teacher…
They need a gradual, steady, logical progression to take them from A to Z.
Sink or swim sounds nice.
Unless you’re the unfortunate one who sank to the bottom.

A gradual, steady and logical path is the best way for me. Even it’s not always applicable for me. And maybe I’m not too brave to go in method “sink or swim” 🙂
Have a great rest of this day!
I highly appreciate an intelligent and positive educational environment that has clear rules and consistent practice to achieve a gradual, steady, logical progression of students. In such an environment, students can thrive because they feel comfortable, valued, confident, and without peer rivalry.
Maybe jump into the deep end is brave, and is not for everybody, but according to my opinion and experience, for long-term results is better to start from the shallow end.
I like the gradual, steady, and logical path.
It sounds more reasonable
I think of my elementary school teacher. Her method was “zink or Swim”. After practicing leg-kicks she sad now you can swim ! She forced or strongly recommend me to Swim into the deep water . I didn’t sank but got my mouth full off water. It was not the best method. I didn’t want to go next time. I overcome my fear after some time in a better environment, together with a calm friend and a pool with shallow end.
