A few weeks ago I had a consultation in my apartment.
It went well, and he wants to start my program.
But the problem is he wants to start in the absolute worst month for English.
September.
Reason #1 why September is the worst month for English: It’s crowded.
It’s the same thing every year.
August is slow.
And then September 1 the emails start arriving.
I think it’s another bad habit learned in school.
The result is that it’s the hardest time to find a teacher. We’re all busy. Including me.
Reason #1 why September is the worst month for English: The weather.
And my students who do my program learn, being outside and moving and having fun and being in a good mood is key to improving your English.
And while it’s not impossible to do in the fall and winter, it’s just a lot easier in the summer.
So what’s the best time for English?
The best time to start doing anything which will make your life better, whether that’s exercise or education, is always “a few years ago.”
But the second best time is right now.
For too many students, later is a mirage… a tropical oasis on the horizon.
You walk toward it, but you never arrive.
But what has arrived…is right now.
