I came to Bangkok to attend a conference.
The conference is over, but I’m not ready to leave Asia.
I told some friends I’d be in England for Thanksgiving.
But that’s not until the end of November.
A lot of the conference attendees are heading to the north of Thailand.
I’ll go there for a week or two.
But where should I go after that?
Memories From The Conference
Lunch time.
I sat with some guys I didn’t know.
“I live in Saigon,” said the guy next to me.
“Isn’t that Ho Chi Minh City?” I asked.
“It’s the same,” he said. “But people who live there call it ‘Saigon.’”
Hmm.
Reminds me of something else…
News sites and Google and AI say “Czechia.”
But everyone I know who lives there says “Czech Republic.”
It also reminds me of English text books.
They want you to say, “How do you do?”
But then you turn on Netflix and hear some native speakers say, “What’s up?”
What’s my point?
Beware the experts.
Listen to the locals.

No comment, ups😉.
Hi anyway everyone! Nice trips!
I also learnt:” How do you do?” But meaning is formal like: Hello, Hi, Good afternoon…Answer is also: “How do you do?” But If you ask “How are you?” or “What’s up?” You can really answer like:” Very well (formal, for unformal examples maybe: you are amazing, or terrible, very bad.. 😀), thank you! What about you?” If you are polite and really good😅, but you can also say to your good friends or family real situation which is maybe not so good like:” Awful, thanks anyway… 🙄😁 Slang… Local.. Unformal…
Well we call Wien or Vienna ” Beč” and I really don’t know why… Like some others people or Nations who cold different names of countries and cities…
Enjoy in Asia!
