Crutches…
To use something as a crutch…
That was yesterday’s word.
And so many of you practiced using it on the blog – great!
Meanwhile, one reader asked, “Why is a crutch a bad thing?”
Good question!
After all, my crutches help me walk.
And that’s good.
But at the same time, my leg is getting weaker.
And it’s the same when you use Google translate to write your email instead of writing it yourself.
It helps you, but your English gets weaker, not stronger.
Make sense?
You’re absolutely right!
Absolutely agreed. Any thing has two ends. A persom himself must choose which is right for him.
I usually write an email by myself and double check it with google translate. Especially when I write formal mails. It ends up in re-writing the mail several times 🙂
As they say: every rose has it’s thorn. But we need to use dictionary for some words. We forget some in time.
I agree with you too. But when you don’t know english as your native language, you have tense to translate in your mind or you don’t know some words. The result isn’t correct. The Google translate is good crutch especially when you have to communicate with somebody officially.
I didn’t use now Google translate.😏
You are absolutely right, but sometimes I need to find a word that does not exist in my vocabulary for wording my sentence.
Yes, I understand… It helps but makes you weaker…
Crutches are good for a while, but when you are ready to walk ,you have to leave them…. with learning English you can better write email, talking ,writing, listening … our skill will be better . I hope so!
I agree with you too, but I also need a vocsbulsry, bcos I’m still learning Engliish..Google translate is helpful for me..it’s my crutch and also my phone..,
I have a lot of pic of English words..
Make sense, BUT we’re Millennials – should we entirely refuse technology? It seems to me that once you start dancing again, you won’t have to worry about crutches… 🍀Good recovery soon!
Yes, make sens.
You are absolutely right, google translate is a bad crutches for those who have a relatively good level of English, but it is also wonderful crutches for English beginners.
I cannot agree. I write myself and google Translate repair my mistakes.
Indeed, I often used to translate my email before sending them; Thus , my Englisg Still got weaker.
It make sense, but if I don’t check it with Google translator I don’t see my mistake.
I have watched TV with subtle in English. Is it like crutches. What ‘s your opinion?
I agree with you.
Yes, you are right and I agree with you.
It depends how you look at it. Google Translate or a crutch is absolutely necessary to start walking. After the start, you have to give up the help of Google Translate or the crutch. Because you can become addicted, and you have to fight to be able to walk again without a crutch or Google Translate.
Google translator is a temporary solutions, helps for a while, as your crutches.
I hope we leave our chutches to be independent and self-standing:) ( self- walking? self- jumping?)
Thanks for your Vitamin V.

Yes,it”s weaker not stronger.
Agree, it’s better to do things without crutches and use your mind…
Yes! Your absolutely right mr Vig
Of course it makes sense. It is easier speeking then writting. Therefore I make double check with translator or Deeple, if there are some official matters.
I use google translate english – roumanian, just to verify myself. I usually have a good surprise.
