Hello from the birthplace of English!
I’m here for a weekend business event.
But first, I’ll be a tourist.
Yesterday, I asked you, “What should I see?
Some suggestions I got on the blog: The Chrystal Palace, The Shard, The London Eye, the Kew Gardens, the British Museum and Hyde Park Speakers’ Corner.
Where will I go? What will I see?
I’ll tell you tomorrow.
London Memories
This is not my first trip to London.
My dad took a business trip here when I was a little kid and brought along my mom and me.
It was either in the late 1970s or early ‘80s.
A long time ago, but I still have three strong memories:
London Memory Number One: Hamleys toy store.
This was and is the largest toy store I’ve ever seen: it has seven floors! That’s heaven for a kid, but also hell, because even if your parents buy you a toy, it’s never enough.
I remember seeing a gas-powered mini-sports car for kids. It must have cost a fortune. But I wanted it bad!
London Memory Number Two: Tea time.
Every day at the hotel we had tea and cakes and small sandwiches. I learned to say, “Two lumps. With milk.”
I thought this was a fun daily ritual. I still do.
Plus, it’s a mild caffeine buzz at the time of day when you need it most.
London Memory Number Three: I was bored. A lot.
Should you take kids traveling? I don’t know if it’s worth it: they complain a lot and would have more fun at home with a Coke and a pile of rocks.
But I’m glad I went.
Perhaps these trips turned me into a traveler…
Beautiful memories, Mr. Vig. They are present in you as if it were yesterday. We are lucky with our fantastic brains and the images, smells and flavours that we can still remember after so many years. Sometimes it is good to store beautiful memories in our heads, sometimes I would like to erase them, especially if the memories evoke unpleasant feelings, even if they are ours.
Do you like KFC? I prefer home-cooked food – fresh and delicious seasonal food. When I’m travelling, I try local dishes as often as possible.
I’m gelouse how you’re traveling over the world. and the priveledge to meet people and customers in each country,. ,You help them to improve English with your V. vitamin,, so crucial for all of us to deal with the technological time we live
Hi, certanly in London are more beautifull places to visit. I never have been there, but my mother was there a few years ago. She told me her like Buckingham palac and Tower bridge. Tower bridge is very photogenic for me. Specially on evening. I saw it just on magazzin😀. You have nice memory on the toy store. Enjoy yourself London.🌟🍀
And…I definitelly would not recommend KFC. Because it is american mark of fast food. Very popular in Slovakia too, I think around the world. But is need to visit and try traditional, original british food or cake, or some speciality…
You should visit Muzeum
Madame Tussaud’s, Big Ben and London eye , Buchiingam palace and Greenwich hill..
You have a nice memory from childhood , you had a nice time with your parents! Some musical like Cats is also wonderfull…Traditional dish is fish and chips.. enyoj your turistična part of travel
