This week, we’re talking about community.
Here’s how a community can help you become an English speaker.
Learning To Swim
When I was a kid I couldn’t swim.
So when my family went to the pool, I had to stay in the shallow end and wear water wings (also called “floaties”).
Meanwhile, all the other kids were having fun in the deep end of the pool.
Well, I didn’t like that.
So I quickly learned how to swim.
That’s what happens in every community.
If you join a community of rich people, you start to make more money.
If you join a community of drug addicts, you get a fentanyl habit.
And if you join a community of English speakers…
See where I’m going with this?
Your English Community
Yesterday, I asked you if you are a member of any communities where the common language is English.
Only three readers replied!
I guess the answer is… “No”?
If you do belong to such a community, please go to the blog and tell me about it.
And if you like the idea of learning in a community instead of learning alone or at a boring school, then tomorrow, I’ll tell you more about my community, and about something new in my community that I’m excited about and may you will be too…
I’ m a member of Vig. Village and I tried to do my best . I enjoy to speak in a chat rooms. There are manj activities.. meetings in different country , medicine group members, book members etc. It’s become addiction..
That’s a good addiction!
Hi Ryan and everyone!
The best way to learn English is without shadow of doubt to belong an English speaking community if you ask me. Here is one of my funny short stories about imroving my sills in English. I was in touch with an Italian American man from Atlanta accoriding to him. I immideately started to read about Georgia and Atlanta LOL. It was pretty interesting. Then he told me that he is a supervisor on the rig or oil platform. Guess what was the next favorite subject to my reading… It was a drilling process, LOL again. I became pretty good to convert length and depth in meter.
Sadly I found that he was a fake person, so my English was without any big progress untill I got knowing about VigVillage community.
Fake?! Who and where was he?
I really don’t want to talk about him. Let’s focus on the nice weather and how beautiful our life is!
I love your daily vitamin V messages. I almost attended your Vig village some months ago, after the 28 days lessons in November 2024. After that I learned about your Vitamin V messages, and I love to read them. I still can learn some English from you. I still can hear your warm voice so clearly expressing the words. So easy to understand. Thank you, Mr Vig.
You’re welcome1
Vig Village is my “English” community. Even when i meet people from my country in small groups, we always speak English. This helps a lot improving my English. Before, when the teacher was not a native speaker, we often used our native language in conversation. This situation caused that my English did not improve for years.
After the 28 days of trial, I have just entered this community of Vig village for a few days. I think it is a very good idea to be able to talk with people from different countries and cultures.
It is the possibility to understand different accents, to quickly improve English with people who d’nt judge you and are very friendly.
I participate as often as possible in chat rooms with pleasure even if it is still difficult to find my words.
Monique, lovely to hear you say that. I agree with you so much!
Hi, I am glad to read your massage. 🙏🏻
Thanks for simple text. I almost anderstand .But l don’t know some words.
Hi Ryan, hi everyone
I like attending the Vig Village, it is my English community. I prefer speaking with people rather than being alone. Thank you for your help.
Great! You’re welcome!
Sorry, I was late again with my answer. You are right. I do not belong to a community where everyone have to speak English to interact one to each other.
I agree, this is a better way for learning and understanding any langauge than studying on your own. To put yourself into this embarressing situation of interacting. But, on the other side, it’s a question of time, too. I mean, how much time we can afford to spend with this. OK, I am trying to find for myself at least a half an hour in the evening to read your “Vitamin V” and maybe to leave a comment if necessary. Then, will see. I like this idea with “Vitamin V” and the name, too. Bye, bye.
Hi Ryan,
I must say Vig Village is a huge discovery and a pleasant surprise. I appreciate everything in Vig Village : The mindset and the tools. The pleasures are various : chat on line in English at any time of the day and the evening as well ( Waouhhhh that’s fantastic ) , listen to bridge audios with a bigger interest knowing that I’ll go into a special bridge audio chat room to come across the new words I’ve learned… meet the very nice and cool native speakers, learn and laugh with the Flash cards, and also have the opportunity to write in English with the daily conversation in Vitamin V.
Congratulations Ryan for what you invented for us, and thank you again.
What a beautiful cool healthy addiction !!!!
I would like to belong in a community where the common language is English instead learning alone. I m excited about it
