This week, we’re talking about how to get a €100 lesson from a €50 teacher.
If you’re just joining us, go to the blog to catch up on past lessons.
Tip #4
I recommend you have this conversation via email even before you meet your teacher.
Hello,
Here are the three things I’m looking for in my English lessons:
1. I want to talk.
2. I want to do most of the talking.
3. I want to talk about _____. (Pick something you’re interested in.)
Then, invite three or more teachers to give you a sample lesson.
See who follows your instructions.
See who makes you feel comfortable (you’re going to be spending a lot of time together, so feeling comfortable and relaxed is important).
And then invite that teacher to be your teacher (and email the others a polite explanation about your decision).
As they say in Paris, voila! (translation: there it is)
(also used by many English speakers, so good to know)
P.S.
Are you ready?
I think you are.
It’s time to get a private teacher!
And these days, you don’t need to be rich.
Have a look at the teachers on my other site, Teacher Creature.
Here’s the link: https://teacher-creature.com/prague/teachers/offers-online-lesson
So, let’s do repeat:
1 only English please, do your best, don’t switch in your native language
2 no more rules, no more grammar, conversation, talking…
3 slow down the speed of your teacher language
4 I want to do most of the talking about cooking recipes
Et voila, c’est comme ca!
So why did you switch to a non-English language ?
Freedom of speech!
Very good!
Thank you for this tip.
I hadn’t even thought about this option… Maybe one day.
