I just spent five days in London.
Every time I visit the UK, I learn new words.
And I add new words to my active vocabulary.
I can recommend you visit London on your next holiday so you can expand your vocabulary.
Or, you can just read Vitamin V and go to the beach.
Sorted
When an American says “sorted” he’s talking about physical things being organized.
Example: My file cabinet was a mess but I got it sorted.
But when a Brit or Aussie says “sorted”, they mean they’ve got what they need, or a problem or challenge has been resolved.
Example: Take a ride on a London train or metro and the pre-recorded announcement will tell you to call the police if you see a terrorist or a bomb.
And when you call them, they will sort it.
(If you and the bomb haven’t already exploded.)
Also, when I talk to my Aussie business coach, at the end of the call he asks me, “Are you sorted?”
And when I tell him, “I’m sorted” that means my questions have been answered, I know what to do this week and I’ve got a plan.“
Sorted.
I like it!
Cheers,
Mr. Vig

Such interesting words to expand our vocabulary!
I wonder if “sorted” become from the French word ” sortir”, maybe for the meaning of the English or Aussie ” sorted”. In Romanian language we also have ” metrou” for subway.
About ” mind the gap” I will memorise by comparing it with ” bridge the gap”
Indeed a lovely expression. I found out that the physical ‘sorting’ of belongings like the file cabinet or the kitchen (mess) after cooking goes along with a mental sorting. Means it helps to clear your mind and an overload of too many thought, and even emotions.
That makes sense!
