Yes, I love Thai food.
But I don’t always eat it when I’m here.
Most dishes I can get in Prague or the US.
And they taste the same to me.
So last night, I got some Mexican tacos.
But today was different.
I got to eat something I’ve never seen on any menu in any Thai restaurant…
AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE
Hello from The City Of Angels!
I’m here for a conference.
And today, I joined a pre-conference event: a trip outside the city to explore some temples and markets.
Imagine this….
We walked out of the hot sun and into a covered passage.
The floors and walls were made of old wood.
This was a 100-year-old floating market.
We walked and walked, past shops selling clothes, Buddhist statues, pots, pans, knives, toys, and everywhere – strange food.
Finally, we arrived at some wooden benches.
In front of us was a muddy river.
In the river, dozens of giant catfish floated near the surface waiting for an insect to land or a human to throw them their lunch.
Our Thai guide brought a bag of food.
She took out some peanuts, onion, lime, ginger and peppers.
Cut them up with some scissors.
Put them in a leaf that she covered with a brown sauce.
Wrapped it all up and…
Thai tacos!
Of course, they were yummy.
