What a day!
I went for a walk on Sunday and I left my coat at home.
For readers in Saudi Arabia, that might not sound like a big deal, but here in central Europe in March, it was a big deal.
On my walk, I stopped to meet a friend for brunch, I went to a bookstore, I stopped at a cafe to read my new book, and I walked through a park.
The cafe was empty while the park was full.
As I strolled (translation: walked slowly) along one of the park paths, up ahead I could see a group of teenage boys playing a game.
Was it baseball…. or cricket?
No, they were hitting the ball with a pair of crutches.
And it wasn’t an ordinary ball they were using, it was a basketball.
And when someone hit the basketball with the crutch, they had to kick the basketball at the tree.
I thought, “Cool, a new sport has been discovered.”
Then I thought, “Where are these kids from?”
As I got closer, I heard English… English from England.
They hold up a hospital to have these crutches and play with them
Oh Ryan!
You are so good to intrigue your followers who (or whom? ah, doesn´t matter) are not from England ))
I think they were lying in the hospital and passing the time by playing games.
These young people spoke real English, didn’t they?
Hi Ryan,
They are probably playing stickball like Nabil said and it’s cool.
But in Paris some stupid boys use crutches in a very violent game : they pretend to be injured and walk with crutches, then they provoke a fight against a rival gang and use their crutches as weapons by destination, to beat and hurt. Isn’t that scary and devastating?
Hits not hit
Sorry! I read too quickly! Hit not hits. Please, accept my apologies !
It seems.to be interesting the new sport and I suppose it promises to have fun with…
If you didn’t reveal the answer I could swear they were gypsy from Romania…
So , do the English from England speak English too?
May be a new sport for disabled persons
from Ukraine, maybe…
Maybe this is a new sport, I think
Ryan, you always find a topic to arouse our curiosity/interest
From Syria ?
from Palestina?
Hi , i think the kids are from the India 🙂
I think the boys were from Ukraine. In Poland, when I can see a Ggroup of children playing together in a par,, in 99% they speak Ukrainish.
I can’t imagine where they are from but I think that boys are crazy and a little bit dangerous. I am looking forward to reveal the answer!
To be honest, I don’t have a clue why they were playing with crutches. Maybe one of the boys had hurt his leg and someone had this good idea to use those crutches to play.
It’s hard for me to know because I’ve never been a boy.
If they spoke English like natives they maybe were from London and they came to a basketball game with their Friendship School in Prague.
Very intersting. I do not believe they come to Prague for a while. They go to school and feel in Prague like at home, otherwise they would not play with crutches. Could the boys from other countries speak like natives? Young children can learn language very quickly when living in the country and going to school.
