In the 1980s Dr. Stephen Krashen made an announcement.
“Language acquisition does not happen by learning grammar rules.”
Oh, and he has a Ph.D in grammar.
Take a look.
Good news, right?
No more boring classrooms…
No more grammar drills…
No more torturing students while stealing their time and money!
Right?
Wrong.
Because nothing happend.
40 years later and the schools continue to ignore the reseearch.
Can you blame them?
According to the research firm Ambient Insights, in 2015 classroom and textbook English industry made $31.3 billion.
To the English schools, Krashen’s ideas are dangerous.
But now you know the truth.
What changes will you make?
..to learn languages is the key of communication futur…
Hi, I do not understant it completely. The sound of the speach is not clear and I am little bit weak in English. I should hear it many times.

Because the “kitchen” English is enough for me and I don’t have to take the exam, I think I will watch EURONEWS in English every evening.
He said true
Please correct the typo in “reseearch”.
Very very interesting! Thank you!
I began to listen prof. Krashen in many video youtube after the video that you present us whit this lesson and I’m very fascinated! Thanks!
No one!
What you means? Ana?
I studied English for many years and now I still speak bad English
Well, the only way to speak foreign language fluentky and perfectly (nobody us perfect) is to practice as much as possible. If possible, by moving abroad for a year or more, talking to the native speakers, working and living among them. And Vig Village is the best replacement one can get. And it has some other advantages. So, enjoy and learn.
Hello, it is very interesting. I am learning my whole adult life and I still can’t get enough of the vocabulary. What I miss the most is an “everyday” common conversation. I do communicate in English at work, but with very poor vocabulary. And, my biggest pain is how to help my 13 years old son to acquire the English. His teacher at school tortures him and he hates English. He is at the 8th class but cannot say anything. We do not know how to motivate him effectively… Does anybody have an advice how to start with him effectively even though I am affraid, that it is impossible???
Krashen’s research is amazing. I learnt in Montessori that children have a so called “sensitive period” for language from birth until the age of six, when they acquire language in a way Krashen describes. But everyone seems to believe that after childhood language need to be learned differently, through effort and conscious learning.
Thank you for sharing.
Behind everything is business. Every school request students buy books according them. Dr.S.Karshen told wisely. And you too.
Great, great explanation.I fortunately learned English using this method, the fastest way to get to the point becoming able to communicate when you find yourself in English speaking communities.
One change from before is Flashcards.
I also listen to Bridge Audio and read a book in English.
