It’s Mailbag Friday!
This is when I answer your English questions.
Let’s begin!
TODAY’S QUESTION
“What’s the difference between “toward” and “towards”?
Do you know the answer?
Both are correct.
One is British and the other is American.
As a general rule, if the word has more letters, it’s British.
FOR EXAMPLE
Did you see that Trump visited Windsor Castle this week?
If you had been there, you might have heard Trump ask, “Hey, Chuck, where’s the john?”
And the King’s reply could have been, “Head towards the stables and you’ll see them on your right.”
And if Charles ever visits the White House, he may ask Trump, “Where’s the loo?”
And Trump may reply, “Head toward the golden Coke machine and you’ll see them on your left.”
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Vig
The john has more letters than the loo.
:-D, thanks! 😀
