What do you think?
When you travel, do you see that people are the same or different?
Different people see different things.
Share your opinion on the blog and we’ll talk more about that later.
VIVE LA DIFFERENCE
Hello from a new city!
I’m here for a few days as a tourist before I head to Bangkok.
Have you ever been to Kuwait?
It’s a foreign country.
I mean, it’s more foreign than other foreign countries.
And I like that!
So many places I visit look the same; they have the same malls, grocery stores, products, franchises, clothes, music…
So when I find a place that is truly different, I enjoy it!
For example…
In Kuwait, a lot of fun things are illegal: eating bacon, drinking alcohol, having sex before marriage – even kissing your sweetheart on a park bench can get you in hot water!
But jay walking is ok (not crossing the street at a crosswalk) and men greet each other by a kiss on the cheek or touching noses.
I’ve been wearing pants every day, although it’s hot as hell, because showing too much skin is frowned upon.
The weekend begins Thursday night. So today, the center is very quiet, and on Sunday, it will be busy again.
There are no taxes; instead, the government pays the citizens!
They pay them when they get married, start a business, go to college (a degree in physics pays the most), have children, etc.
And they pay quite well!
My Kuwaiti friend owns a bookshop and gets about €3,000 a month from the government.
But, if you’re thinking you’d like to move here, you can join the millions of guest workers, but you can never become a Kuwaiti citizen.
To get the Kuwaiti passport, you must be born here.
Your sharing for Kuwait dose describe it as a Really Foreign Country.
I haven’t been travelling outside of Europe and didn’t meet such kind of completely different people regarding their culture, as Arabians, for instance.
Send us pictures from Kuwait, please
In general, people are the same, but culture and behavior are different in different countries. English people are very polite, but if they go to Sweden they will have a culture clash; unfortunatfly we are not so polite here 😐. Hopefully we can learn!
