I left the city of Prague yesterday to spend the next three weeks in a small ski town.
Why here?
I’ve got five reasons.
Let’s start with…
# 1. It’s Quiet
During the ski season, it’s busy.
But between the ski season and the summer festivals, it’s a ghost town.
I like that.
But when I say I like quiet, some people look at me like I have a tail and green skin.
For example, last night, I was having dinner at the hotel restaurant.
I was sitting outside, admiring the garden flowers, the trees, the mountains in the background, and listening to the sound of the stream full of melted mountain snow.
Then the waitress came out and turned on some Bulgarian disco music.
I was the only customer outside, so I asked her if she could turn it off.
She looked confused, but turned it off.
Either you know the pleasures of quiet, or you don’t.
I enjoy quiet.
And you?
Close, Continued
Yesterday, I asked you, When is “close” the opposite of “open”?
The answer, When you are telling someone what to do.
“Open the door, I want in.”
“Close the door; you’re letting the heat out.”
But…
“Close the door” and “Close but no cigar”…
You must say the “s” differently in both sentences.
One word – two meanings
One letter – two pronunciations.
Isn’t English wonderful!

I like quiet. – Open your mouth only if what you are going to say is more beautiful than silence.
I like John Cage’s 4’33” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JTEFKFiXSx4&pp=0gcJCdgAo7VqN5tD
I completely understand your preference from quiet places and nature where you can rest tand fortify. I saw a dozen of American movies about ghost towns, they was so sadly but seem like art.movies speaking about life experiences and I liked it. By the way amphybian have no tail, only some species, I don’t know the English word, in Romanian we say SALAMANDRA and it’s a symbol of fireman.
I enjoy quiet too.
When I am in nature there is so much to see and hear, that I don’t want anything to disturb that. The mind calms down when you can just be in that moment you live.
And if you need to, you can also hear your own thoughts better in silence…
I very like quit. During my editing to photographys on computer I like to be quit. Still more time I prefer to be quit at home. And when Im in nature absolutly I need quit and listen nature. There its like a meditation…
I also enjoy quiet, but some times I need company. Silence is time when I think about my self evaluation and that time is time to be closer to Gad.
Human beings can’t live without nature, otherwise they compromise their health. I’m lucky to live in the quietest place in France with mountains and nature essentiel for my mental health. When i needed i appreciate being surrounded with lots of people.
I like quiet too. I celebrate quiet!
I would like to celebrate it every day, but it’s not always possible.
However, in August, I will have a memorable celebration.
At this time of the year Bansko is the perfect peaceful place.
Enjoy a lot, Mr. Vig!
