Remember my crazy friend?
The one I told you about on Friday?
Well, he said something else you might find interesting.
I hear it all the time from students.
And it’s an important lesson for you English…
It’s been a great month in a new city.
But once again, it’s time to leave.
I’m hitting the road tomorrow.
Or, I should say, hitting the seas….
You Gotta Love It
My crazy friend said he works out in the gym every day and…
He hates it!
(Also, he doesn’t exactly look like Swarzenegger, either.)
And that’s the big lesson for your English.
My friend has all the numbers: body weight… body fat…. protein… carbs… steps walked each day…
But he doesn’t love the process.
He thinks reaching the next number will help him reach his goal.
But it won’t.
And many, many English students think having a goal of C1 or B2 or Z987 will motivate them to become a confident English speaker.
But for most students, most of the time, it won’t!
But when they switch to a new goal: “I must do English every day and love it”….
THAT’S when they reach their goals.
You’ve got to love the journey.
See how that works?
