That’s a common American greeting.
It sounds very normal for me.

This week, I’m visiting friends in the UK.
It’s also the first week of summer vacation… I mean, holiday (that’s what the English say), so we’re doing some travelling with the kids since they’re out of school now.

We drove from my friends’ home in the middle of the country up north to where we’re renting a cottage for a few days.
